“Your road led through the sea, your pathway through the mighty waters— a pathway no one knew was there!” ~ Psalm 77:19 (NLT)
As I was reading Psalm 77 tonight, this verse really resonated with me. It is referring to the miraculous parting of the Red Sea in the Book of Exodus.
The Israelites had Pharaoh’s Egyptian army closing in on them from the rear and their path was blocked by the Red Sea in front of them. They viewed their cirumstances as hopeless.
They began to think a life of slavery in Egypt was a better option than what they were now facing. And then when all hope seemed lost…God parted the Red Sea and Moses led the Israelites to safety. It was a pathway that no one knew was there but God himself.
How often in life do we feel the way the Israelites did? Hopeless because the enemy is closing in on us and we see no way out of our circumstances. I’m not talking about an enemy army coming at us with the intent of bodily harm. I’m referring to those feelings of hopelessness that come when life isn’t going as planned and we don’t see any possible way that things are ever going to get better.
I have been there many times in my own life. Overwhelmed with fear in a marriage with a blackout, and sometimes violent, alcoholic. Consumed with worry over health issues. Lost in despair after a second failed marriage caused me to start over again with little to call my own. In each of those seasons of my life, I just couldn’t see how things were ever going to get better.
Fast forward to today and I look back and recognize the pathways that God provided. They were roads that only He knew existed.
He rescued me from the enemies of fear, worry and despair and brought me safely to the other side. To a life filled with faith, peace and eternal hope.
In those seasons of your life when you are facing enemies of your own, when there seems to be no way of escape, I pray that you will remember the Israelites and the miraculous pathway that God provided.
Our Heavenly Father has a safe path planned for each of you, in all circumstances. He will reveal the way in His own perfect timing and will lead you in victory over your enemies.
Be blessed and be a blessing to someone today!
